ASG M15 SIR

My M4 has a S.I.R Rail on on it. Meaning that the barrel has Threads on top. I.E. Since I ordered a new Barrel i'm going to have to get it threaded and tapped. So that will be fun.
I'm going from a 15" Barrel to a 8.7 "
I've ordered a 220mm Inner barrel.
New Muzzle
I'm going to buy a lower receiver because the Stock ASG receiver can not take certain mags. (HexMag, KWA mags, etc)
I just need advise for tapping the barrel and threading it. Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean as the SIR rail is a free float rail and outer barrels are only threaded for their flash hider but that is already done for outer barrels. If you still need one you would need a tap and die set to thread it.

The rail is not free float. It had clamps that need to be tapped. I don't know how to tap this stuff

Do you mean you have one of the old S-system rails?

Yeah that's the one. I'm finding it to be a pain to work with in general. Perhaps I should just start fresh with another system.

If Keymod or M-lok is more your thing, it's a lot less bulky than the S-system. Vfc has some pretty sweet ones, but they are a bit more than the ASG M4s.

I was gonna get a keymod rail so I guess It would be cool to have one without having to buy it aftermarket and change everything like I am now.

I'd check out the VFC Avalon VR16 then https://modernairsoft.com/collections/vfc-avalon-vr16
There's a couple options to choose from and these guys perform really well out of the box. I'd say you can just run them without upgrades and not have to worry about anything going down any time soon
